Stub period

Also called Partial period · Activation stub

TL;DRThe shortened first (or last) window when a schedule starts or ends off-cycle.

A schedule activated on the 20th with a billing day of the 1st produces a first invoice for the 20th to the end of the month, then falls into normal cycles. That first window is the stub.

Stubs are priced by calendar-unit proration for fixed and seat products. In shipment billing the leftover days after the last full window up to the contract's end date are a stub too.
